Trains are renowned as being one of the most sustainable forms of transport. They are also one of the most efficient ways to travel for business if combined with a laptop and flexible working arrangements. The unproductive time associated with travel can suddenly disappear.
Train travel leads to significant reduction in carbon emissions. It is estimated that if all UK internal flights were carried out by train then it could save up to 350,000 tonnes of carbon being polluted into the atmosphere.
The main benefits of train travel are:
- Fast
- Efficient
- Eco-friendly
- Comfortable

Guidance
- Always remain behind the yellow warning line and ensure pushchairs, prams and small children are securely held. This provides a safe distance between you and the platform edge, particularly when trains pass through the platform at high speed.
- Take special care when using stairways, escalators or bridges, particularly in cold or wet weather and when conditions may be slippery.
- NEVER leave belongings unattended as this may cause a security alert.
- Always take care when joining or leaving the train as some platforms have gaps between the train and the platform edge.
