Reuse

Guidance
After you have made efforts to reduce your waste at the source. The next step is to reuse or repair. There are simple ways to do this:
- Buy long lasting products, not disposable or poor quality
- Try to avoid disposable products like razor blades, nappies, plastic cutlery and single use cameras
- If the product is no longer useful for its intended purpose, try to find another one that means you dont need to buy another
- If you can't reuse something yourself, then see if someone else wants it
Specific opportunities
Many opportunities exist to ensure the reuse of a product. Some examples are below:
- Take your unwanted items to a charity shop
- Working computers can be reused, and commonly there are donation schemes that will put the computer to use in low income areas
- Even broken items can be reused. They can be stripped down for their constituent parts
This advice is not intended for University waste. Specific procedures will be in place for use whenever available.
